There are many trigger words surrounding Souda, each with varying degrees. Now, it's common with abuse victims to not even realize how messed up their situation is. At the same time, Souda's expression falls, and he's looking to his Totodile off camera again. At the same time, repeating their mistakes is also borderline common. Recognizing other people's abuse is another degree, so...

So...family. There's no way Souda would've connected with it as deeply as that, at least not with some encouragement in the right direction.]

Yes. For Pokemon, they may have families, but their trainers...are the ones who look after them and raise them. They're the ones who spend their days together...they're family.
