[There's a light crackle as Souda fiddles with his Pokeconnect before he comes in clear.]

[It's like an echo of Kuzuryuu's message on the network, only it's weeks late. Thankfully, he didn't have it on for two whole minutes of his freaking out, but he's still a pathetic crying mess. All the cold has apparently sapped the all the hope right out of his body. His boilersuit is zipped straight up, and his teeth are chattering.

Arguing with some lady who acted like a mother really didn't help his morale.]

Sonia-san, [Of course he calls out for her first, the predictable bastard] Hinata, the rest of ya guys! Are ya getting any of this?! [There isn't even a pause as he continues, because the tears on his face are freezing.]

F-First off, why the hell are there Pokémon?!

[The view pans down to show off his Totodile down by his feet chewing on his shoelaces. Souda is nervously laughing outside of view.]

Aha...ahahaaa... I'm dreaming, right? 'cause I played the first one when I was younger, but... There wasn't any ever like this one here!

This shit ain't funny! It's way too cold for it to be a joke! Goin' from an island to frozen hell?! If that Naegi kid is here, I'm throwing this thing [he means his Totodile] right at him! And I wanna go home, so ya guys better come out and get me already!

[...And now he just sounds like one of those children who lost their parents in a gigantic store.]

[Diddly darn dangit Nanami is adorable.]

Yeah, if I had Charmander, maybe I'd beat ya for once! [He's still kind of sore about Nanami not taking it easy on him, damn it. But, hey, Pokémon is pretty much like following a formula or manual! ...Right?]

And I guess she might be? [Well, he just got her, but he'd been yelling and talking to Kuzuryuu for a while. Hmm, Nanami is too good at this.] But I don't know what the things eat, and I can't exactly go outside to get her anything.

I'm pretty much stuck in this lab until Kuzuryuu finds some way of gettin' me out. Ain't no way I'm walkin' this.

[ ...Well, maybe. She'd still probably not take it easy on him here, and she's been training for longer than he has... ]

In your backpack, there should be a bento...they can pretty much eat human food for the most part...also, if you ask the Professor, he probably has Pokemon food you can get. Be sure to stock up before you go anywhere.

[ ...It is pretty cold, come to think of it. She's so used to travelling with Shaun and his fire horse that it's not a problem any longer, especially with their increasing pool of fire types. ]

Hm...do you at least have a warm set of clothes for your second set...? Though, I think your first set is okay...

[Too bad Souda's favorite types are going to be electric/steel.]

...Y'know, I don't know if I can ask that guy for anything. See, Kuzuryuu and me got into this yellin' match... Might've scared him and all his assistants.

[How hasn't he been kicked out yet? Souda sets down his 'Gear, and he can be seen going through his backpack.] Damn, Nanami, this is really surreal. There's all these pockets in here, like I'm supposed to know what goes where! [Granted, Souda has a lot of things on his person at times, but that's because his boilersuit has five billion pockets.]

...Finally! [That's the sound of Souda popping open his bento.] I guess fake Mom actually did somethin' nice... [He's not disturbed yet angry about her, nope.]

I don't think that's the case...at least, I believe the Professor will always do what's best for Pokemon...so asking him to help you out there will probably always get a positive response?

There's a lot of useful stuff in the bag...and you can always pick up other things later on. I guess it's a little surreal...I was just happy when I woke up here, to be honest.

[Souda frowns over at his Totodile as he holds out a piece of fish to it. Don't bite his fingers, don't bite his fingers!] Hinata not becomin' Kamukura again? That's pretty good as you bein' all right again.

Well...if you're asking him to help Pokemon...that's sort of his life's work, you know? So I think he'll help. Probably.

[ She has a problem with being definitive, sometimes.

...I think...this is a good place to be for everyone. Maybe. But...I understand not everyone feels that way.

Y'know the word anti-climactic? That's this whole thing for me. Me and Kuzuryuu were just talking about it earlier.

[Souda needs definitive answers, too, what with his nerves and all.] Nobody's dead or in comas anymore, but like...they remember island things. Exactly the opposite of the deal, y'know? [Maybe he should build the professor a robot after all this nonsense...]

I pretty much had it figured out that you'd be excited about this place, though. [If only it were just pixels and not a living breathing thing staring at him in the face.] I always wanted to have pets when I was little, but... These things are more work than a pet.

Is anti-climactic such a bad thing...? Something calmer and quieter and more peaceful...I don't think that's really a bad thing, you know?

[ At least, she likes it. ...And the whole, uh, being here at all part. ]

[Look, at a certain point, you have to look out for number one. At least thinking of them as pets is better than training them, sheesh!]

I mean, I guess it could be for the rest of ya, but... I fix or build things. I'm not some trainer. [As strange as it is, Souda just isn't prepared to see everybody in their 15, 16, 17, or 18 year old bodies. He was bumping it up to their actual ages, not...

Maybe it would be different if he had somebody he'd been close to, but he hadn't. Now it's just like seeing their ghosts or something, if that makes sense. It likely doesn't, considering this is Souda's line of thinking.] It's...good that nobody's out dyin' and all, but there's new stuff to deal with now. Stuff I didn't sign up for me, ya get me?

...Totodile is a nice lookin' one, though, but that's beside the point.

You can find that sort of work here...or make different kinds of pokeballs, or that sort of thing. ...I think that as long as you're here, you should try to look on the bright side, Souda-kun. Focus on the things that are good...

There are many trigger words surrounding Souda, each with varying degrees. Now, it's common with abuse victims to not even realize how messed up their situation is. At the same time, Souda's expression falls, and he's looking to his Totodile off camera again. At the same time, repeating their mistakes is also borderline common. Recognizing other people's abuse is another degree, so...

So...family. There's no way Souda would've connected with it as deeply as that, at least not with some encouragement in the right direction.]

So... [And it's not as if Souda were looking forward to it as much as anticipating it. There are as much perks as there are downsides once they're back and conscious. Yes. For Pokemon, they may have families, but their trainers...are the ones who look after them and raise them. They're the ones who spend their days together...they're family.
